I had remaining berries froze after I used for my another smoothie. Also I always freeze banana when it is over ripen. This way, I used all of it for this, along with flax seeds powder and chia seeds. This is the first time I bought, using flax seeds in my life. I picked this one from Fairprice, and been sitting in the pantry for a while.

Though I have seen different ways flax seeds incorporated in cooking, never attempted anything. But I know one thing that flax seeds are better absorbed when used in powdered form rather than whole seeds. So quickly took a handful and powdered. I wanted to first start use in smoothie than baking or any Indian recipe forms.

It is quite fine, nothing odd taste wise. Flax seeds have huge nutritional values, especially for women it helps in dealing with hormonal imbalance. I hope I find way to include flax seeds regularly in my everyday diet. Check out my papaya smoothie.banana-flax-smoothie

Cup measurements

Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen berries I used strawberry and blueberry
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 tbsp flax seeds powder
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp honey or any natural sweeterner
  • 1 cup milk or can use any vegan milk

Instructions

  • Place banana, berries, flax seeds powder, chia seeds in a blender.

  • Top with honey, milk. (I used half milk and half yogurt, if using yogurt, use Greek yogurt)

  • Blend smoothly and enjoy.

Notes

  • You can add vanilla extract or use vanilla yogurt if needed.
  • Honey can be adjusted to suit your taste buds. 
  • Can add a hand full of spinach too.
